My classroom showed an overall increase in inclusivity, positive atmosphere, and feeling of community. They all gained deeper understandings of the seven values, and many made new friends along the way. I feel that it helped out my classroom greatly during this pandemic time, and helped them feel less isolated from friends in other classes. The collaborative environment within the classroom has been overwhelming, with students helping other students with their work; answering questions or working together to find the answers. They became more animated, the energy levels increased, but in a productive way, and they
What Was Your Favourite Teaching?
Humility because we all have to be humble
Respect, because there seems to be a lack of it and it's nice to be reminded about it and why it's important. Also, the buffalo is a cool animal.
Truth I liked the story [The Two Wolves]
Honesty, because I think a lot of people should show that more often
Bravery because I feel like taking a chance is like a fifty-fifty if you get that right, and even taking the risk if you’re not sure it just boosts your confidence to make you want to take more and more risks
I liked Honesty the most because I liked the story that went with it
Honesty because I think it's the most important one to have
Love because it is about caring for everyone and helping each other
It was the Love one, because I feel like it describes me in so many ways like I love so many people and care for them but I also love when I get things right because it makes me feel accomplished and happy
My favourite virtue will always be Honesty. I really care about it and it just kills me to lie. I do not want to betray someone else's trust because I really care for it. It makes me feel like a better person when I tell the truth
Love, because I think that everyone deserves love and desire
Honesty, because being honest is very important.
Love because everyone should have love for each other as friends
I liked the Honesty virtue because it was my favorite story to listen to and I think that it teaches people a lesson to always be honest and treat others the way that you would want to be treated
Bravery because you need it to persevere
My favorite virtue was Wisdom, because I feel like I had the most connection to it, and I really just enjoyed that one. But I also really liked Love as well.
Respect was my favorite because I know it goes a long way.
Most likely Humility because there’s so much to talk about humility and most of us in the classroom have some experience with humility
I like Humility because it’s very important to be humble towards everyone and I personally look for humility in people
I like Honesty, because it can make you think about your decisions and choices before you say or do something
Truth. I like it because it helps people find out who they are
Respect was my favorite virtue because I think respect is something really important and it also relates to all the other virtues.
My favourite virtue is Love because of you love someone you will follow all the other virtues because they all lead up to love
Suggestions for Future uses:
Make more pointed questions about the legends, or choose students to give answers, because there weren't often volunteers. This is possibly because it is hard to absorb details when you are just listening to a story. Maybe projecting the story and reading it off of the computer would be better, then students can follow along that way.
Having written reminders on the board that students are supposed to write something on their line art animals would have helped with the blank ones that I had handed in to me.
Making the recognition feathers easier to nominate for, and be more open to all acts of virtue, even small things like picking up some trash that wasn't yours. I didn't gain many nominations and was unfortunately not great at remembering to nominate students myself as well.
Tying the seven teachings to the school's goals/outlined attributes from the beginning to create a stronger connection between the learning and the school itself.
Put a stronger distinguishing focus between Honesty and Truth, because most students just end up saying the same things for both. Honesty is TELLING the truth and being honest with yourself and others. Truth is KNOWING and seeking the truths of life, and understanding who you truly are as a person and what your place in life is.
